Rolex Milgauss White Steel

Like other limited or special Rolex models and watches collection the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Milgauss is one of those that managed to become a collectible watch. The collection was first introduced by Rolex in 1956 when they decided that they should make a special watch. What made this watch so special was the fact that it was supposed to be an antimagnetic watch for people who worked in power plants, medical facilities and research labs or usually any place where there was an unusual electromagnetic field.

The model is still done today although watch collectors are hunting for the vintage models, which can be really hard to obtain due to the fact that this watch didn’t manage to gain a lot of popularity when it was first introduced.

The watch has an amagnetic alloy hairspring and a movement encased by a faraday cage and it can withstand a magnetic flux of 1,000 gauss. It has a paramagnetic protection system with a bidirectional self-winding via Perpetual rotor and the officially certified Swiss chronometer.

It comes in three variants: white dial or with black dial. The black dial models have a colorless sapphire crystal and there’s also the Anniversary model that has a black dial with a different design and a greenish colored sapphire crystal. The bracelet is made of steel with oysterclasp with Easylink comfort extension link. The watch also has a 31 mm case and weights 157 grams and is very resistant to scratches and overall durable.

The watch was recreated in 2007 and at first it was rumored that it was going to be a limited edition. However, it is still produced nowadays and people can easily buy it. Authentic watch can cost around $6,000 dollars, depending on where you buy it and what model you choose. If you can’t spend this amount, you can get Swiss replica watch for under $700.  The good thing is that nowadays you can get it for a smaller price that it used to be before its recreation and even a bit afterwards when people thought it was going to be a limited edition.

This is a great Rolex watch for somebody who wants something really durable that could work in the harshest conditions but still look good on their wrist. Continue Reading

Rolex Watches – Going To Extremes

Most people know Rolex watches as glamorous status symbols and this is the main reason they purchase one but this brand can offer some of the most amazing timepieces that can withstand extreme conditions and even welcome them. The amazing thing is that despite being very resistant, they still manage to look amazing and keep with the Rolex theme of making status symbols for the elite.

Rolex Submariner Black Dial

One of the main things is water resistance. Every luxury watch brand has a special model or collection that is designed to withstand great water pressure. These watches are created for professional divers and when it comes to Rolex, we have the Submariner. The original model was the first to withstand water pressure of up to 100 m; the modern version can go as deep as 11,000 m and it also resisted temperatures of minus 45 degrees Celsius. This is one of the icons from the industry and has a very sturdy build.

After conquering the deep seas, the sky is the limit and a common problem that pilots used to have is the different time zones. Having two time zones is essential and Rolex GMT Master was the first to offer this feature in 1954. The new model can basically offer three different time zones thanks to the adjustable hand and rotating bezel. Everything can be done without changing the minute or base hour hands. Rolex watches are not just appreciated for their looks but also for the heritage behind every model.

Rolex Daytona White Dial

Extreme speed with precision can also be found with Rolex watches, more exactly, the Rolex Daytona. This model is meant to offer a precise reading and it is named after the 24 hour endurance race at Daytona which Rolex has been a sponsor at for a long time. This chronograph is an amazing piece of engineering and one of the most valued timepieces due to the first limited edition series that started cult status.

The Rolex Explorer as featured on Horologue website is also created for extreme conditions such as climbing Mount Everest and it is very resistant to scratches, damage and temperature. It is a watch designed to take on dirty environments and continue working perfectly in some of the roughest terrains in the world.

Rolex Explorer 2

There you have it, a list of models made by Rolex that go far deeper than the way they look. Each of them is meant to take on an extreme environment and do it with style.

Rolex Sky Dweller

I was contacted by the company asking me if I want to review the Rolex Sky Dweller I have purchased from them. At first I was surprised by this unusual request and did not know what to make of it, but after a while I realized that other shoppers may actually benefit from my experience and serve as a guide line.

Needless to say that at first I was very hesitant about buying a replica online, but I was desperate to have my own Rolex Sky Dweller and I know for a fact that I will never be able to save enough money to buy the real one. So I took my chances and I ordered it on the website that seemed to me as the most trustworthy one. The delivery was surprisingly fast. I was promised that in 7-8 business days I will receive my package and the mail man delivered it only after 5 days. When I got it I couldn’t wait to unwrap it and see how it actually looked like. I impatiently torn the package and found the watch all wrapped up in bubble plastic and scotch tape. I then re-started the whole tearing operation, but this time focusing on the thick layer of plastic. I finally managed to unveil my watch. From the first glance I was mesmerized by this beautiful Rolex Sky Dweller. It was better than I had imagined.

I think I have seen the commercial for this watch a thousand times. With the same slow motion I began studying every inch of my Rolex. It is a surprisingly well made replica. The glass has that clear fine shine of a sapphire crystal. The dial of the watch shows a very high attention for details and a refinement of materials and craftsmanship. I just love the simple complexity of the dial of this Rolex Sky Dweller. The second time zone wheel is a very creative novelty for Rolex and it brings to our attention the fact that Rolex isn’t just a classic luxury brand focusing on perfectly complicated internals. The design doesn’t need to be necessarily classic and simple. It can also be innovative and youthful. The stainless steel used on this watch is clearly of very good quality, also the links of the band are full and not hallow like I have seen on other replicas. This makes the watch feel sturdy and heavy just like the real one. All the markings and serial numbers are present on the case and band. It even has the small laser etched crown at 6 o’clock. I have to admit that it manages to impress me with its similarity to the original watch. I know all the details of the authentic Rolex Sky Dweller by heart and when checking this replica closely I cannot distinguish any.

The ultimate test was to have my uncle inspect it. He owns about a dozen watches, all original Rolex, Tag Heuer, Jaeger LeCoultre, Omega, Vacheron Constantin and so on. Luxury watches are his biggest passion and he is an expert. I showed him the watch and when seeing it he asked me: “What did you do? Did you rob a bank?”. I didn’t have the heart to lie to him so I told him that it’s a replica. I wear the watch each time I get a chance and I have to say that I’m still in love with the design. For me, the Sky Dweller is the perfect timepiece.
